van Gogh
I was first introduced to Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) by a friend while on a school trip to the National Gallery in London as a 17-year-old. I knew the London Sunflowers from its endless reproductions on tacky souvenirs, but nothing prepared me for the impact of seeing the painting up close. I was hooked and needed to find out more. I have since visited most van Gogh ‘sites’ including all those in Provence, but also Paris, Amsterdam, Nuenen, Auvers and Zundert, in some cases many times, to deepen my understanding of his life and works.
