How do you say the date?

No, not that kind of date.

If you were saying rather than reading this date: ’7 July’, you would probably say ‘the seventh of July’ or ‘July the seventh’.

This is the way we say it in the UK. With a ‘the’ or an ‘of’. Forgive my anti-American stance here for a moment, but I just loathe the way that newsreaders are starting to adopt the ugly and lazy habit of ‘July seventh’. No! Please annunciate the definite article!
