More beautiful British wildlife

16 Sep 2008 / in about art, natural world

I am enjoying making pictures of British wildlife so much. Every time I see a new species I am immediately inspired by it!

You may have already seen ‘Hare and frog’, ‘Fox and perch’, ‘Coot and carp’ which I made earlier this year. Go to the ‘Living things’ gallery to view them. More recently I made ‘Squirrel and oak’, inspired by the grey squirrels that visit our garden and scamper through the oak tree on there way to the bird nuts.

Last weekend I finished two more in my series featuring British wildlife.

The idea for ‘Otter and brown trout’ (pictured left) came about after a fishing trip on the Windrush earlier in the summer with my son. Then two weeks ago we saw a gang of captive otters at the local wildlife park. That trip to the wildlife park also gave me the idea for ‘Barn owl and wood mouse’ (pictured right) where we saw a barn owl being flown by a falconer.

Each picture is a drypoint and watercolour, sized 300mm x 400mm and available for a credit-crunch-busting £95 unframed. Buy any two pictures (unframed) from the British wildlife series on this page
for £175, any three for £245 or any four for £300.

I wonder what will inspire me next? A badger perhaps…
