River man

14 May 2006 / 0 Comments / in about art, events

Today I had more than 100 visitors to my exhibition. Among them was Martin Salter, the MP for Reading West. He came to purchase a print of my painting Thames Magic at Eynsham. Martin is a keen fisherman and has fished the stretch of river shown in the painting. He fights hard to keep Britain’s waterways healthy for the benefit of all the creatures that inhabit them.

When I told him about my campaign to scrap the tolls at Swinford Bridge he said: “The Thames toll bridges like the one at Swinford belong in a bygone age. They cause huge traffic delays which generate pollution from exhaust fumes and should be abolished on environmental grounds alone.”

Thank you for your support, Martin!
